Summary: App delays are usually caused by momentary Wi-Fi interruptions or specific Transmission Settings. If Wi-Fi drops, the Gateway will auto-reconnect, but data may pause for up to 1 minute. Alternatively, if your probe is set to a "3° Interval," it will intentionally stay silent until the temperature actually changes, which can look like lag during a "stall."
Why Does the Data Stop?
Even the best Wi-Fi networks have occasional "hiccups" or interference.
- The Trigger: If the Wi-Fi signal drops, the RFX GATEWAY pauses data transmission while it re-establishes a secure link to the cloud.
- The Symptom: During this reconnection phase, the App may show the probe as "inactive" or simply stop updating the graph.
The Reconnection Process
The device is designed to recover automatically.
- Auto-Reconnect: The Gateway immediately attempts to rejoin the network.
- The "Buffer" Minute: Once Wi-Fi is restored, it can take up to 1 minute for the cloud to process the handshake and for the probe data to reappear in your App.
- Resume: After this brief delay, updates will resume based on your programmed settings.
Check Your Update Interval
Sometimes "delay" is actually just a "Slow Setting."
- Wired Pro-Series Probe: Check your Gateway Device Settings. If you have the Transmission Interval set to 60 seconds, the App will only update once per minute. Try changing this to 15 seconds for a more responsive feel.
- Temperature-Based Transmission Interval: RFX MEAT is often set to transmit only when the temperature changes (e.g., every 3°F) to save battery. If your meat is in a "stall" and the temperature hasn't changed by at least 3 degrees, the probe will remain silent. The App isn't lagging; the temperature just hasn't moved enough to trigger an update.
