Summary: If your RFX GATEWAY fails to connect to Wi-Fi, the issue is typically a 2.4GHz network mismatch, an incorrect password, or the device is still registered to a previous account.
Step 1: Power & Range Check
Before troubleshooting network settings, ensure the hardware is ready.
- Power On: Verify the Gateway is actually turned on.
- Range: Temporarily move the RFX GATEWAY into the same room as your Wi-Fi router to rule out signal distance issues.
- Cable: Ensure the USB-C charging cable and power block are functioning (try a different outlet if needed).
Step 2: Network Requirements (2.4GHz)
The RFX GATEWAY uses a specialized long-range radio that requires a specific Wi-Fi band.
⚠️ 2.4GHz Wi-Fi Required
The RFX GATEWAY cannot see or connect to 5GHz networks.
Please ensure your router is broadcasting a 2.4GHz signal and that you are selecting that specific network in the app.
- Credentials: Double-check your Wi-Fi password. It is case-sensitive. A single typo will prevent connection without a specific error message.
Step 3: Account Ownership Check
A Gateway cannot be connected to two accounts at once.
- Used Device? If you bought this Gateway second-hand, received it from a friend, or you have multiple accounts, it may still be "locked" to a previous email address.
- The Fix: The owner must log in to their app, select the Gateway, and click "Remove Device". Until this is done, the Gateway will refuse to pair with your new Wi-Fi/Account.
