RFX MEAT: Device & Channel Settings Guide
Summary: The RFX MEAT settings are split into two sections in the App. Device Settings control hardware behavior (Battery, Ring Colors, Advanced Sensor Mode, Transmission Rate). Channel Settings control your specific cook data (Alarms, Graph Names, Min/Max reset).
Device Settings
These settings affect how the physical probe behaves and reports to the cloud.
- Device ID: The unique identifier laser-engraved on the tapered end of the probe.
- Device Name: Defaults to "RFX MEAT". You can rename it here (e.g., "Probe 1"). Press Update to save.
- Battery Level:
- Transmitting: Shows current battery level.
- Charging/Idle: Shows the last known amount recorded before it stopped transmitting.
- Transmission Interval (Temp-Based): Controls how often the probe sends data based on temperature changes.
- 1° Setting: Faster updates. Best for high-heat searing (Steaks). Uses more battery.
- 3° Setting: Slower updates. Best for low-and-slow cooks (Brisket). Maximizes battery life.
- Advanced Mode (4 Sensors vs. 5 Channels):
- Default (Off): Displays 1 channel (The lowest temperature found by the 4 sensors).
- Enabled (On): Displays 5 channels. The calculated "Lowest Temp" channel PLUS the 4 individual sensor readings.
- Ring Colors: Select up to 3 colors to match the physical silicone rings you placed on your probe for easy identification.
- RFX (Signal Strength): Displays the connection quality (RSSI) between the Probe and the Gateway.
- Firmware: The current software version running on the probe.
- Remove Device: Deletes the probe from your cloud account.
Channel Settings
These settings affect the alarms and data display for your current cook.
- Enabled: Must be ON for alarms to work. (Note: Even if disabled, data is still recorded to the session history).
- Channel Name: Label your specific cut of meat (e.g., "Pork Butt Left"). Max 40 characters.
- High Alarm: Sounds on your phone when the temperature rises above this set point.
- Low Alarm: Sounds on your phone when the temperature drops below this set point.
- Rate of Change: Displays how fast the temperature is rising or falling (degrees per minute). Useful for predicting stall times or finish times.
- Min/Max Reset: Tapping reset clears the "High" and "Low" markers for the current session but does not change your alarm settings.
