How to Test RFX MEAT Battery Life

Summary: Battery life on the RFX MEAT is heavily influenced by signal strength and transmission intervals. If you suspect your probe is draining too fast, perform this controlled "Bench Test" to determine if the hardware is defective or if environmental factors are to blame.

Expected Battery Life Specifications

The more frequently the probe transmits temperature updates, the faster the battery drains.

Step 1: Preparation

Before starting the test, ensure the following variables are controlled:

• Full Charge: The probe must be in the charging block for at least 20 minutes.
• Power: Plug the RFX GATEWAY into wall power using the USB A-to-C cable.
• Settings: Remove the probe and set the Transmission Interval to 1.5° in the App.
• Verify: Check that the App shows 100% Battery on the probe you're testing. (If not, top it off for 5-10 mins).

Step 2: The Bench Test Procedure

1. Placement: Place the RFX MEAT probe exactly 3 inches away from the RFX GATEWAY.
   • Why? This eliminates signal struggle. The RSSI signal strength should read between –21 dBm and –30 dBm.
2. Session Setup: In the App, start a NEW session and name it "Battery Test".
3. Wait: Leave the devices undisturbed for 15 hours.

Step 3: Interpreting the Results

Result	Conclusion
Lasted 15 Hours or more	Pass. Your probe is behaving normally.
Lasted less than 15 hours	Fail. The battery is underperforming. Please let us know your results.
