Summary: RFX MEAT is a wireless probe with four internal sensors. It connects to the RFX GATEWAY. You must insert the probe up to the immersion line to protect it. Probe battery life ranges from 5 to 65 hours depending on your settings, and you have a charging block that uses a AAA battery.
Immersion Lines (Critical)
The probe contains a battery and electronics inside the shaft. Heat destroys them.
- Minimum Line (Thin): The absolute minimum insertion depth. The probe must be buried at least this deep.
- Recommended Line (Thick Black): We recommend inserting up to this line to protect the electronics even if the meat shrinks during cooking.
4-Sensor Technology
RFX MEAT has 4 sensors located in the tip (last 1.5 inches).
- Standard Mode: The App displays the Lowest Temperature found by any of the 4 sensors (finding the true thermal center).
- Advanced Mode: You can toggle this in the App to see all 5 data points (The calculated lowest temp + the 4 individual sensor readings).
Charging the Probe
The charging block uses a AAA battery (replace once/year). One AAA battery provides approximately 175+ full charges.
- Insert: Place the probe in the charging block with the tip facing away from the LED light.
- Status Light:
- Blinking Red: Charging.
- Light OFF: Fully Charged.
- Rapid Blinking: The AAA battery in the charging block is low.
- Speed:
- ~10 Minutes: 80% Charge.
- ~20 Minutes: 100% Charge.
Battery Life & Transmission Intervals
The battery life depends entirely on how often the probe transmits data. Adjust this in the App based on your cook length.

Turning Off & App Status
- How to Turn Off: The probe has no button. It must be inserted into the charging block to turn off. If left out, it will continue to drain the battery.
- App Battery Level: The probe cannot talk to the App while inside the block. To see the current battery level in the App, you must remove the probe for a moment so it can send a signal.
Use in Pressure Cookers & Instant Pots (Strictly Prohibited)
The RFX MEAT probe should not be used inside a pressure cooker or Instant Pot for two critical reasons:
- Signal Blockage (Faraday Cage): The heavy metal walls and sealed lid of a pressure cooker will likely block the 433 MHz radio signal, preventing any temperature transmission to the Gateway or App.
- Thermal Damage: Pressure cookers operate at temperatures up to 250°F (121°C). While the ceramic handle can withstand this, the steel shaft below the immersion line is only rated to 212°F (100°C). Exposing it to pressure-cooker temperatures will permanently damage the internal battery and sensors (this is not covered under warranty).
