Using Groups: Organizing Devices & Multi-Channel Graphing
Summary: The "Groups" feature in the ThermoWorks App allows you to organize multiple devices into a single folder (e.g., "Brisket Cook") and view all their data on a single combined graph. This feature is ideal for users managing multiple thermometers simultaneously.
How to Create a Group
Grouping devices declutters your main dashboard and consolidates your data.
- Tap the "+" Button: Located in the lower right corner of the screen. Select the option to Add a New Group.
- Customize: Enter a Name (e.g., "Brisket 1") and assign a specific Color to help identify the group quickly.
- Select Devices: Choose which devices belong to this group.
- Note: Devices can belong to multiple groups at the same time.
- Note: Once added to a group, the device will move out of the main "ungrouped" list and nest inside the folder.
Viewing & Graphing Multiple Devices
The most powerful feature of Groups is the ability to visualize data from different hardware on one screen.
- Dashboard Navigation:
- The Group appears as a folder in your main list. Tap it to expand or collapse the devices inside.
- Tap the Group Name to enter the "Isolated View," showing only the relevant devices.
- Combined Graphing:
- In the Group Dashboard, you can view a Master Graph that overlays data from every device in the group.
- Lines are color-coded by device/sensor. You can toggle specific devices on or off to clean up the view.
Editing or Deleting a Group
To make changes, enter the Group Settings menu. From here you can:
- Update Details: Change the Name or Color scheme.
- Manage Devices: Add new devices or remove existing ones from the group.
- Delete: Delete the group entirely (this will return the devices to your main list; it does not delete the devices themselves).
Important Limitations
⚠️ Connectivity Requirements
Groups is a cloud-enhanced feature.
- Internet Required: Groups require an active Wi-Fi or Cellular connection. This feature is not available in standalone Bluetooth mode.
- App Only: Currently, Groups can only be viewed in the Mobile App; they do not appear on the web browser version of ThermoWorks Cloud.
