Summary: For security and data integrity, ThermoWorks Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices (like Signals and RFX) can only be registered to one account at a time. To move a device to a new account, it must be removed from the original account first.
Before You Begin
⚠️ Data Transfer Notice
Past data logs, saved sessions, and historical graphs will not transfer to the new account. When a device is moved, it starts with a fresh data history on the new profile.
Ensure you have the following ready:
- The Serial Number (S/N) of the device (found on the back or bottom of the unit).
- Login credentials for the original account (if available).
- The ThermoWorks App installed on your mobile device.
How to Add a New Device
If the device is brand new or has already been removed from a previous account, follow these steps:
- Log into the ThermoWorks App.
- Navigate to the "My Devices" screen from the main menu.
- Tap the "+" (Plus) or "Add Device" button.
- Select your device model from the list and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the pairing.
Error: "Device Already Connected to Another Account"
If you see this error, it means the device’s Serial Number is still linked to a different email address.
Scenario A: You have access to the old account
- Log out of your current account and log into the original account.
- Go to My Devices and select the device you wish to move.
- Scroll to the bottom of the device settings and select Remove Device (or Delete).
- Log out and return to your new account. You can now follow the "Add Device" steps listed above.
Scenario B: You DO NOT have access to the old account
If the device was previously owned by someone else, or registered to an email address you can no longer access, we must manually release the device for you.
Required Information for Manual Release:
To request a device release, please provide:
- Photo of Serial Number: Send a photo of your device's serial number (e.g., SN: 12345678)
- Your Current Account Email: The email you want the device moved to.
