BlueDOT® Product Guide: Bluetooth Leave-In Alarm Thermometer
Summary: BlueDOT® is a single-probe, leave-in cooking alarm that uses Bluetooth® technology to send temperature alerts and graphing data directly to your smart device. It is designed for simplicity, durability (IP65 rated), and professional-grade accuracy. Note: BlueDOT is Bluetooth-only and does not connect to Wi-Fi.
Why Choose BlueDOT?
- Eliminate Guesswork: Set high/low alarms and receive an instant notification on your phone the moment your food reaches its target temperature.
- Graph Your Cook: Use the ThermoWorks app to view real-time temperature trends, identify the "stall" in BBQ, and see how your oven or smoker is performing.
- Rugged Reliability: Built with an IP65 splash-proof rating and high-accuracy sensors (±1.8°F), BlueDOT is designed for the demanding environment of a hot kitchen or backyard grill.
Connectivity & Range
BlueDOT uses Bluetooth 4.1 with a line-of-sight range of approximately 95 feet (30 meters).
Note: Range can be affected by physical obstacles (brick walls, metal smoker lids) or electronic interference. For the best experience, keep your mobile device within a reasonable distance of the cooker.
Troubleshooting: App Connection Issues
If your BlueDOT is displaying a temperature on the device but not appearing in the app, follow these steps:
Step 1: Check the Hardware
- Bluetooth Icon: Look for the Bluetooth logo on the left side of the BlueDOT display.
- Power Cycle: If the logo is missing, turn the BlueDOT off by holding the power button for 6 seconds. Press again to turn it back on.
Step 2: Verify App Settings
- Force Connect: Open the app, go to the probe Settings (gear icon), and tap the yellow "Connect" button. If it says "Disconnect," you are already successfully paired.
- Bluetooth Indicator: Ensure the Bluetooth icon in the top-right corner of the app is illuminated blue.
- Interval Rate: Check your Transmission Interval Rate in settings. A longer interval (e.g., 60 seconds) means the app only updates once per minute to save battery life.
⚠️ Connection Delay Notice
When first connecting or after changing batteries, the device may require 3–5 minutes of processing time before it begins regular data transmissions. If updates do not appear after 5 minutes, try temporarily shortening the Transmission Interval Rate in the settings to "force" a fresh update.
